Finally you can calculate scanning resolution easily and quickly right on your Mac! MasterScan is easy to use:
• Enter your input size ( inches, mm, cm, picas, points, or PS points )
• Enter your output size ( same )
-- OR --
• Enter the percent enlargement
For film recorders:
• Choose the output resolution
-- OR --
For halftones:
• Choose the line screen
• Choose the quality factor ( normally 2.0 )
• Watch the resolution appear.
• You may choose to see the resolution in DPI, DPC, or RES (l/mm).
Users of earlier versions will note that you no longer have to click a button or press enter to see the resolution.
There is on-line help available which further describes the function of the program.
You may now copy the scanning resolution to the clipboard by clicking “Copy.” The program defaults to a warning message telling you that the contents of the clipboard will be erased (and displaying the size of the clipboard in k ). You may suppress this warning by unchecking “Clipboard Warning” under the Special menu.
MasterScan will display the size of a file to be scanned by clicking and holding the “Size” button or by holding down the Return or Enter key. It will also show the exact (unrounded) scanning resolution.
MasterScan creates a prefs file in the System Folder and saves the window position and all the settings!
The program normally runs with a 180k partition, but in order to obtain the most amount of free RAM you may set the size as low as 128k. The logo will switch to black and white at this setting.
Support has been added for older Macs with 9 inch screens; choose “9 inch Screen” under the Special menu and the window is positioned perfectly for use on a nine inch screen. ( The “Please support ShareWare” area of the window can be used for dragging in this mode. )
MasterScan is System 7 compatible and 32-bit clean.
BUG FIX: Version 1.1.2 fixed a bug that caused the downloaded copy of v1.1.1 (not registered copies) to crash on some machines. Sorry folks...
BUG FIX: Version 1.1.1 fixed a bug in the calculation when using a halftone screen specified in lpc (European).

This includes, but is not limited to, distribution by service bureaus, software resellers, hardware resellers, photo studios, photo labs, ShareWare distributors (That means you, Educorp), or ANY OTHER COMPANY IN BUSINESS TO MAKE A PROFIT. Unregistered copies of MasterScan MAY be uploaded to public bulletin boards provided all documentation is included and the program is unmodified. Schools MAY distribute MasterScan free of charge, but ARE required to pay the ShareWare fee for each copy, or purchase a site license at a learning institution rate.
